"POP UP" mudroom details

16 comments:
No,  those are not the ones in my laundry room...but aren't they interesting?

Find them here

I really doubt my collection will get much bigger...but ya never know, right?!
moving right along...
into the land of tide and basil...
I really am a true Mrs Meyers junky...
I love the stuff
Old vintage jars are great for storing
powdered detergent and Oxy clean
Another item in the mud room that is indispensable for us
is this great orchard rack from Gardeners Supply
It not only stores fresh things like tomatoes, squash and apples, but I use it to store onions, garlic and potatoes too

This is some sort of a message board
and I stuck in a few vintage seed packets for fun
The graphics are really interesting

 I am never with out
"Boat and Totes" from LL Bean

Here  is my storage solution for the rest of the pantry...
this is metro shelving from the Container store

You can add shelves as needed
and they offer these great zippered canvas covers
as a solution to hide the clutter
I used 4 of these in all...
when we get ready to do cabinets in here
these will work in the garage or as additional storage someplace
Over the washer and dryer I added a stainless shelf from Danver
and hung
those great prints from artist Doug Strickland

Does the Mrs Meyers label somehow  match Doug's work?

I think it does....how funny!

On top of the washer and dryer
is a stainless top from John Boos for folding laundry

Yes, that is a vintage laundry cart...it actually gets used!
OK, I think I've spent enough time
on the "POP UP" laundry/mudroom

Next project....barn wood!

Barn Light Electric: industrial & unique

14 comments:
I did a couple of posts a while back
 about this little laundry room
It has some really fun and fresh elements,
but one of the best things in here is the big galvanized light fixture
 with the bright red cage

I bought it from a great lighting resource:
We used similar galvanized fixtures called the Atomic Sconce on the front and back porches up in Ojai
This little guy retails for around $189

Here, below, is the front porch
The vintage mail box is used to leave notes for guests and workers,
 when we're not around.
Barn Light Electric has a blog too...doesn't everybody?
And they did a little post about this porch which you can read here
There are now doing ceiling fans
I love these!
This one retails for $349
Do you need a pendant?
Made from the tops of recycled acetylene canisters.
This little cutie is around $149
The catalog is full of great ideas.
With all of the different goosenecks and shades you can use your imagination and come up with something very original

So that got me thinking about my next project
Here are the elements:
A vintage toaster...
and a kitchen colander

Can't wait to share the finished product!

One last thing...
a huge thank-you to these wonderful bloggers:

&
Andrea from Faded Plains

If you haven't already checked out their blogs you really should
&
to all of the new and not so new friends who have joined me in the last few months,
I am so happy to meet you and I love all of the great comments!

See you next week

Ahoy Mate: Framed Sailors Shirt

22 comments:
We have a pretty small laundry room, which felt sooo cramped.
So a few months ago, I ripped out everything in this room and started all over.  I did a post about it here.  I doubt many people read it so here's a little update and a few more fun details that make folding socks a bit  more enjoyable.

Is there such a thing as "re-posting"?  I guess so

I wanted some sort of a vintage article of clothing for the art work in here and I found this
really beautiful mens sailor shirt...jacket?  for about $20 dollars at a vintage clothing store.  I had it framed in a black shadow box with white linen backing.

It is a beautiful dark blue wool and there wasn't as much as a splotch or tear on it anywhere.  I  folded the sleeve so that the details on the cuffs could be seen and I think my sailor boy might be reciting the pledge of allegiance!
The bright "cleaners" sign adds to the nautical colors and the sign says: Kelly Ave....too funny.  There are only 4 shelves in this room, which I like, because it keeps me from buying too many cleaning products.
I love Mrs Meyers, in case you didn't notice.
Here is the utility sink from Kohler.  It can be purchased with or without the birch stand.  All of the details about the items in this room can be found in the first post, if you need more info.
The wood top pops off and it is really a nice deep size.  This would be great in a potting shed or a kids bathroom too.
Just for fun and to store my scrubbies and sponges I used these large glass cylinders from the Sundance Catalog.  The stainless shelves are from Danver and would look great in a kitchen or utility room.  These are 36" in length and I believe they make them up to 60"
One more sign... that's what I charge to do the laundry
And finally, the ceiling fixture, from Barn Light Electric, with the light bulb cage ties all the colors together, while not  seeming too cliche "nautical"
I love this little jacket.
My Grandfather was in the Navy, so I think of him when I look at this : )

Thanks for hanging in there last week and as always a huge thank you for your funny and happy comments.

More good stuff....on the way

xo

The naked laundry room

9 comments:
Get rid of the clutter and see the light
I recently needed a new washer and dryer (the two I inherited/stupidly purchased from the prior owners were sooo bad!) only to find out that in order to get them out I had to pull out the cabinets around them.  Once I got everything out I realized how nice this little 10' x10' room actually was.  The first item I bought for this laundry room was the Kohler sink.  It is a drop in style but can be purchased with this wonderful birch base.  The exterior is a matte black and the faucet set can be configured a variety of ways.
I also knew I wanted open shelving;  #1: so I would quit buying cleaning products I never use and #2:  simple is usually better.  I found these shelves on line.  They are made by a company called Danver.  The finish is very nice and excellent quality, a bit pricey however, at about $300 each.  I also purchased a stainless kitchen cart for storage not shown in the photos, also by Danver.
The white buckets are for powdered soap and oxyclean.  I found those at my local hardware store, they are actually ice buckets!
My new big bad beautiful set by Samsung.  I can't say enough good things about this set.  It has anti- vibration technology in the drums so they are really quiet.  This laundry room is directly above my kitchen on the second floor and when the old set was on the spin cycle all my glasses would shake.  Check these out if you are in need of a new washer or dryer...five stars.
The new light fixture is galvanized metal form Barn Light Electric, a great company.  I have purchased exterior fixtures from them as well.
On the floor I used a porcelain travertine in 1x1 mosaic bordered with white thassos marble and 12x12's
A nice little reno and so much better than all the cabinetry.  When in doubt...go naked! ~*~kelley
