Kitchen Design Details

Sometimes it is hard to visualize all of the components
of a project and how they will work together

Which is why
I always do numerous project boards

When I put an item on the board I immediately know whether
it is going to work or not
& and if not....delete!

I chose the Thermadore Dual Fuel
6 burner

I was a safe choice
but this is a gorgeous stove

I ended up purchasing the vintage French granite ware pendants
but almost bought
the aqua safety glass beauty below
guess what?  When I included it into the mix on the project board
it looked really odd

We are using a mix of stone for the counters
Some will be carrera and some will be soapstone

Our floors throughout the house are
reclaimed pine
I think it is important to inclued your floor choice
 when making big design descisions

This kitchen is really very modern
but remember I have lots of great vintage goodies
to toss in at the end
Here is my completed project board
for your consideration!

  1. Love it! I think the carrera and soapstone will be awesome! I almost got soapstone years ago...LOVED the pieces we looked at back then.

  2. Love the mix of modern and vintage really does make a difference seeing it all together, such a help!!
As usual, can't wait to see the final product!
    xo J~

  3. You will love the color you have chosen for the cabinets - I do in my kitchen! ;-) Your range choice is great - not so much of the "diva" you may have ended up with many of those other brands.

  4. Fantastic stove choice, it is so classic yet tough. I am taking a guess here but your going for the 36" apron front stainless steel, 10" deep sink??? That is exactly what we spec'd for our new kitchen. The whole kitchen will look beautiful!

  5. Kelley I love it all! And how do you create your boards, do you use a special program? Also, you will LOVE having soapstone, I love being able to take a hot pan off the stove right onto the counter! And where on earth did you find those aqua tell!

    Kat :)

  6. Yes I did pick the big stainless sink, Hannah!

I turned down the "diva" Linda. I thought this kitchen needs to remember it's a pretty humble house buitl in 1950!

    thank you ; 0 )

  7. Again, I am so impressed by your taste. It takes a special talent to put such great pieces together. Can't wait to see the end product especially the final touches.

  8. Love your choices, Kelley! I have a farm sink, Villeroy china. It is my favorite thing in my kitchen but...I can see the writing on the will not be a durable, long term, as your stainless. Perfect choices with a greige paint...mmm...gorgeous!
    xoxo Chris

  9. Everything sounds beautiful, Kelly. I have no doubt you will create a gorgeous kitchen.
    Hugs, Sherry

  10. can't wait to see the end result, i know it will be gorgeous!

  11. I could be very happy in that kitchen. :)

  12. Your choices are perfect. Love the paint colors and the mix of modern and vintage. This will be a timeless kitchen.
    All the best...Victoria

  13. so pretty, such clean lines. It feels classic more than modern. I didn't know they made a stainless farm sink. Nice.

  14. Oh that all looks AMAZING! Love your color choices. Can't wait to see it all done... & in its shining glory! :)

  15. It's going to be amazing! Everything you do is!

  16. Thank you all for leaving such nice and sincere comments!

I hope it will be a really interesting and fun kitchen

  18. Love your might want to check out some of our hardware that looks like it would fit perfectly with your design. Looking forward to seeing the completed project

  19. Wonderful selections - just perfect. It is going to be FABULOUS! The lighting is so unusual and a great choice. Love it all, Lori

  20. All these things are beautiful especially the Blabs and big sink.

  21. This is absolutely gorgeous. Just a warning about the stainless apron out that belt buckles don't scratch it. A cute apron would take care of that!

  22. It is going to be just fabulous! I love the shades of grey you chose and the lines of the cabinetry. Thanks for sharing the process with us, including the trip to the stone yard. How exciting!

  23. Great kitchen boards! really love seeing the process! also like the sink choice very much - traditional style in modern material = wonderful!
