An Extra Special Giveaway

75 comments:
Do you remember the project that we did a while back ,
where I asked some blogger friends to use their talents
and frame some vintage pressed flowers?
It was really lots of fun...you can read more here if you like....

But here is what I would like to do...
give the same gift to you!

I will be giving away 4 pressed botanicals,
unframed,
 just like these,
.....from the same book actually

But lets make this more fun
and give away the same gift to two people!

You will get your pressings just the way I found them in the old book

and you can frame them any way you wish!

No crazy gimmicks...just leave a comment on this post and you are entered.

The winners will be picked, at random, on August 15th

I know you will love them....

 finally:
I wanted to add a note about blogging.

I occasionally get comments about how reading blogs can make people feel inadequate and I find that to be true sometimes for me too.

I have pretty much thrown the towel in about a dozen or more times this last year...

But then I think about the creative part of it all...
and how many really wonderful people  I have met through blogging.

So I push on.

No body has a perfect life and if it appears that way...it just isn't so.

I hope you will enter this giveaway
because you are all such a joy to me
at times when I need it the most.

Thank you so much for being...you!

xo
Kelley

PS

I need to kiss my dog!

  2. Whenever I need to slow down and 'escape', I love looking at the photos of your yard in Ojai. They capture the feel of your yard, and I just imagine what it would be like to plop in a chair with a cup of coffee and a good book and enjoying that space. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  5. Hi Kelly!
I would kiss that darling dog of yours, too.

Yes, there are so many creative and talented bloggers out there (you being one of them!). And many have incredible resources. But I look at blogging as an opportunity to meet new people, to make new friends, and to get some wonderful ideas and inspirations. I don't have as much time as I would like to comment on all the blogs I read, but then most of us don't have unlimited time. We just have to do the best that we can...comment on those blogs that really "speak" to us, and answer all those we have time to answer...and not feel guilty about not getting to everyone. Besides, it's important to have HUMAN contact...even DOGGY contact... As for me, I need to get some paintings completed!
Have a fabulous weekend...enjoy your beautiful new bathroom!

  10. Hi Kelley,
You couldn't have said it better. I just about threw in the towel today. But it's a long story...Anyway, please enter me in your giveaway. I love those botanicals so much.
Keep blogging my dear. I love your blog and I love following along with all your projects. You and I know that nobody has a perfect life, but it can sometimes appear that way.

  14. OK...this is just too weird because this topic is exactly what I wrote about today. Sometimes I look at that "followers" section in my sidebar and the number sometimes goes up and I get excited and sometimes it goes down and I take it so personally. Was it something that I said to make them leave? Should I have not said this or that because I offended them? And just exactly who left? (Then I try to remember all the people I have "met" in my blog and for the life of me I can't figure out why the number dropped). Oh well. I feel like you: I do it for ME...because I feel like it is my creative outlet at this time in my life. I get the chance to look at things around me with a more critical eye. I get the chance to "meet" new people. I get the chance to play with my camera and (hopefully) improve my skills. So, Kelley, I think this is a sign from the cosmos that I should win this giveaway. I would do something wonderful with them, I just know it. And if by chance I DON'T wind, I'm not going to hold it against you. :) I know that everything happens for a reason and I hope that you will continue to blog forever (or at least until you finish that bathroom!!) I need to know how it ends. Seriously...LOVE your blog and always look forward to something new and exciting. So many great ideas come from this blog. I would hate to see you leave.

  17. Right now with what is happening in the world, there are very few who have a perfect life, whatever that means. All I know is I love reading your blog and Delores' and many others. They add inspiration and escapism and joy to my life. Now I am off to kiss my dog.

  18. I know what you mean. I just started bloggoing and I feel it can be very difficult and overwhelming. Just have to remember the original intended purpose. I really love your blog because it is comfortable. I think your giveaway is sweet and maintains a simplicity that others will recognize for its innate beauty. Reminds me of that opening scene in Braveheart the movie when the little girl gives the boy the flower and he saves it all those years by pressing it. It is a treasure! 22. I am with the reader who said that she has limited time but every now and then loves to sneak over to the computer and escape for a couple of minutes! Please don't quit because this is one of the few blogs I take time for and look forward to! IF anything I am sooooo needing more photos of your garden! it is soooo dry here in Texas that every thing is parched! I know it is tough to deal with a remodel everyday and all of its ttrials (especially the dirt! EVERYWHERE!) and then come to blogland and try to show how perfect everything is but I just want to hear about how you dig holes in the dirt just like the rest of us and then wha-la you have a fantastic paradise! Ok, I need to go find my charger and plug in my camera to charge so I can take photos of my garden and do a blog post for the first time in a long long while... all before the three year old and one year old get up! Oh yeah, and I need to feed the horses, water the flowers, etc.! LOL!

Oh yeah, throw my hat in for the prints as well! Whoo hoo!

  23. I loved your botanical project so much that I tried to do my (very amateurish) own! Would be so excited to win some of the real ones. Please keep blogging away...it just makes my day when you have a new post. Your new bathroom is an inspiration!

These botanicals are just so esquisite. 30. Dear Kelly,
These are just what I need in my life! I have an old herbarium like yours but for sentimental reasons can't break it up to frame. I ADORE yours & the frames you selected. Actually, I adore you & your blog too! Please keep pushing yourself to share with us, you are my favorite! P.S. I am dying for an update on your backyard, we would all love to see how that lavender has grown :)

  31. Kelly! I appreciate what you do here! I benefit from your design sense, your down to earthiness, and I just plain enjoy the time I spend catching up with your latest project. If someone feels inadequate, hell, what can you do...start making god's eyes out of string or stars out of tin foil to make them feel better?! Isn't it more their problem? Good Grief. I love you and your dog and your beautiful pictures. Okay. I'm done. Have a really fine day.

  32. I would so love to win a set of those. I've been drooling over them since your first post about them. I too struggle with finding the time to blog and get a bit down on myself too. I love to see what you are up to and your posts are always inspiring. Keep it up!

  33. I live in a neighboring southern California community & I LOVE your blog. Ojai is an enchanted corner of the world and you capture it beautifully.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love that you addressed the "pink elephant" in the room - I think it is easy for readers to feel jealous or inadequate of a blog/blogger they admire. And equally easy for blog writers to feel the pressure to perform especially if the blog "takes off." But you make a great point that nobody's life is perfect. And don't feel pressured to present that. Bloggers naturally present an "edited" version of ourselves on our blogs and that is OK by me. What I like about stopping into blogs (and I choose very few to read) is the escape that it gives me - just for a few minutes I can take a break from my own imperfect life and enjoy the one that is presented to me. And on the flip side - you should remain true to the blog intent...to share beautiful, inspiring, design and creative inspirations. An electronic scrapbook for you to record your renovations and ideas - fully formed or not. And a fun lighted conversation between like-minded people. networking!
As for me and my blog writing - just for a minute in the beginning, I got caught up in the fever and than I remembered...it doesn't matter that I have like 8 readers and 5 of them are family...I just like the format to record my unique recipes and it gives me a creative writing outlet.
Post when you want and don't when you can't and just make sure you take time for yourself, family, friends and the dog. We will be here.
(ps on a lighthearted note - frankly I can't keep up with a prolific blogger so the pace is just fine by me!)

  35. FIRST I went and kissed my dog. I immediately felt better. Back to the subject at hand I thought I'd add my two cents. Especially in the summer, for me at least, it is much harder to find the time to blog. The surf and sand and my family call me. I never want to feel pressure to write, which would take the joy out of it for me. I don't do it as a job or for any kind of supplement. I meet wonderful people and reading the blogs of others always gives my hope for humanity a boost. So many creative and truly genuine people out there. I love to chronicle my thoughts, have an outlet to share my pictures and hopefully entertain a few blog readers now and again. Aren't we lucky to have an outlet to do that! I haven't had a give away yet but I'm excited to enter yours! Keep doing what you do, you are an inspiration of creativity and I always look forward to checking in to your blog. Blessings.

  39. We all have bloggy doubts and insecurities.
Is my whole life wonderful? Of course not!
    I'm filled with doubts.
Sharing the good parts of my life on Velvet and Linen helps me to focus on the positive and to stay grateful.

I enjoy all of your posts. I read every single one. But only blog if it feeds your creative soul. If it becomes a negative, then stop...but I hope it never comes to that!

  41. What? You are one of the bright spots in blogland. I love my California blogs, La Dolfina, Velvet and Linen, and vignette design, and Censational girl. You are all real adults, have fabulous taste, and write interesting posts. Don't stop. I can't think of any reason why you would feel inadequate. Cut down on your posts if you want. We just like to see what you have bought, and what you have planted. That's all. You don't have to break new ground. Just take a few pictures with captions. Pictures of your dog in your gardens would be just fine. So many blogs are written by people with no writing skills, not much taste, and rudimentary crafting skills. Many seem to have an agenda to make ad money. You are much different. Your bathroom is inspiring. It makes me want to change one of mine. As I mentioned to one of my bloggy friends the other day, Are you sure you aren't perimenopausal? Thanks for being you and elevating the blog discourse. Ann

  44. Great giveaway.....but I don't want to take the chance away from someone else since I already have some of them. I wanted to comment about what you said at the end of your post. Of course other people are going to have more than some of us. And some less.......that is just life. I think blogging is a way for people with similar interest to interact and how awesome if you make a friend at the same time. I started blogging for me.....to express my thoughts on design.....it has become so much more. When it is time to quit, I hope I will know. For now I will just keep plugging along. In my opinion, I think you still have a lot to say.

  45. Hi Kelli! I am sorry that you seem to be down today. I just want you to know that what you do is very worth it. Sometimes I think we are "sisters from other Mothers". I enjoy your blog so much because so many of your great ideas could have come right out of my head. But you have actually gotten them done. I even have a table that could be a twin for the one you used in you new bath. I hope you will continue your blog.I love the ideas and the friendliness of your writing.
I first discovered your blog with when you sold your other home with all the goodies. Don't know how you could have done that! I could have moved in there and lived happily for a long time.
Can't wait to see all the wonderful things you do with your new place. Yours is my favorite blog. I would really miss you if you were not there. Hope this is not too long. Just wanted you to know how many people feel about you. Give that sweet dog a kiss for me,
